Great Lakes commerce includes industries with substantial ties to the system and its watershed. Those industries that have made impacts on the ecology of the lakes as well as the lives of people in the region will be included. Recent developments like the bottled water industry to the age-old practices of shipping and agriculture to the infamous chemical industry will be examined and analyzed.

This page acts as the portal to information on the industries of the Great Lakes region and discussion of their impacts, for better or for worse. Within each portal we would like general information/history on the industry. But original advocates, industry professionals and avid citizen journalists can add an article to the Active Community Articles section (kind of a current topics area). We hope this portal becomes lively with civil argument and original information.
