Wind Energy in Michigan

From Great Lakes Wiki

Michigan Renewable Energy Program The Michigan Renewable Energy Program (MREP) is a project of the Michigan Public Service Commission. MREP was established by the Michigan legislature in June 2000, and is being implemented by the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), to promote the use of renewable energy in the state. A diverse group of individuals and organizations with knowledge and experience in energy production, technology, education, and policy development have been assembled to identify and address barriers to the advancement of renewables and recommend initiatives to increase renewable use in Michigan. The MREP is an "open forum" project: anyone who is interested is welcome to join. Please visit the MREP website to learn more.

A new Michigan's Renewable Energy Industry essay is under construction now on the Great Lakes Wiki. Please contribute to this project by providing content and links, asking questions, pointing out missing information, or being editors.

[edit] Michigan Wind Working Group

The Michigan Wind Working Group is the wind energy committee for the Michigan Renewable Energy Program. The Wind Working Group is chaired by John Sarver, of the State Energy Office. See Michigan Wind Working Group.

An offshoot of the Michigan Wind Working Group is the Michigan Wind Manufacturing Working Group. World-wide, the wind energy industry is growing at a rate of approximately 25% per year. Already, a few dozen Michigan companies have been identified that are either already in the business of making component parts for the wind industry or soon could be in that business, by virtue of making similar parts for other industries.
