The Neptune Quartet is a Traverse City based band formed in an area surrounded by water. Members are as diverse as the region: Glenn Wolff, bass, is also a nationally recognized illustrator and painter; Angelo Meli, guitar, is a CPA by day and blues guitarist in other genres; Don Julin, mandolin, banjo, and guitar, is the group's award winning composer; and Crispin Campbell, cello, is classically trained and instructor of cello at Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan.

Tunes with titles like Limnology, Zebra Mussel, and The Great Thaw are evidence of the water theme. Their third CD, 'The Great Thaw' was commissioned by Northwestern Michigan College as a fundraiser for their newest building on campus, [The Water Studies Institute]

After increased sales started coming in from across the country, the band discovered one of their tunes was being used for interlude music on an environmental piece about mercury levels. NPR story on Mercury
