The length range for these trout is about 20 to 30 inches. They weigh anywhere form 2 to 8 pounds. The fish attack very fiercely. They give fishermen a huge fight. Fishermen really like this fish because it puts up such a fight. Rainbow trout usually never go lower into water than 3 dozen feet. Lake Michigan has seen an enormous Rainbow trout because there is a lot more food to eat there. They have been weighed in at 15 pounds by the time they were 5 years old. They live after breeding (unlike some of the other trout). They can breed 2 to 3 times unlike the others. They have adapted to their surroundings very well. They go between the lake and the streams just like they did with the ocean. Through the use of tagging we have learned they travel all the way to the Lake Superior tributaries of Canada. Here they reproduce naturally.
