Length range for the Pink salmon is 14 to 18 inches. The weight range is 12 ounces to 1.5 lbs. Approximately 21,000 Pink salmon were added to Lake Superior. This was done in the mid 50's. The pink salmon's natural reproduction rate is 2 years. However, the level of nutrition in the lakes has slowed the time it takes for them to mature. Now some of the fish reproduce during every year because the time till reproduction has grown to 3 years for some of them. Before the Male pink salmon reproduces it grows a big hump. This is why it has the nickname Humpback. The Pink salmon is canned and sold in grocery stores. The meat will rot easily unless put on ice very quickly.
