Michigan Small Wind Energy System Demonstration SitesFrom Great Lakes WikiMichigan State University Extension (MSUE) has a website about wind energy. One of the activities of MSUE is to loan anemometers, so that Michiganders can check the winds at a particular location to determine whether a wind generator might be practical. On the MSUE website, you can see a map that shows where the anemometers have already been stationed. The anemometers get loaned for a year, and then get moved to a new location. The wind speed data collected at each location is graphed and made available on the website, too. Visit the map to see the locations and then click on the link for any location to review the data. By the way, the MSUE website includes a thorough glossary of wind energy terms, too, where you can learn about anemometers -- devices used to measure the velocity of wind.
