Internal vs. external linksFrom Great Lakes Wiki
To create an internal link you put two brackets around the title of the page you want it to go to. Ex. [[help topics]]. Or, you can simply press the Internal Link button listed above and fill in the name of the title for the new link. An Internal Link will connect to a different page within the same website. Make sure to use the exact word and cases in the title of the linked page. External links will take you outside this website. They are used to show sources or provide additional resources outside of this website. An example is if you found a link for [http://www.google.com Google] that, when clicked, will take you to the google homepage. To create an External link you must include http:// at the beginning of your new web address. To hide the full web address, put one bracket around the new address. Or simply, click on the external link above and fill in the new web address. A handy tip for clicking on links is to hover the mouse above the desired link before clicking on it, so that the web address, or url appears in the bottom-left of the browser window. That way, a user can make a judgement of whether or not he or she wants to click on it. |
