Greg Jaris is an artist whose art reflects a combination of Great Lakes regionalism with dogs as a major motif. Beyond painting, Jaris also makes prints, sculpture and furniture. A graduate of Michigan State University, he originally started out as a business major. When he started dating his future wife, Linda, she was an art major. Jaris discovered his interest and talent through her influence and the rest is Great Lakes region art history. His use of bright colors and the light-hearted way he presents his subject matter reminds people to not take life too seriously and stop and see the view. Together they own and manage an art gallery and cafe named Trick Dog in a unique building of their own design on Betsie Bay in Elberta, Combining talent and business, he and Linda are in the 9th year of their destination gallery, which overlooks Betsie Bay and the small coastal town of Frankfort. They've been featured on HGTV and in numerous national magazines. Prior to opening Trick Dog Jaris was in art shows around the country including, Coconut Grove in Florida where his work caught the eye of many, including Jimmy Buffet who owns some of this artist's whimsical creations. What Jaris says about his art: "I like to revisit places of pleasure in my mind from my life experience which include women, children, dogs and summer." Check out the website BUT forget it.
