Wow. Who would have thought to include botulism as a consequence of invasive species. This is truly a disturbing consequence and one that doesn't appear to get much public attention. The first I learned of this situation was Oct. 19 in the current events section of the Great Lakes Wiki. --Dave 15:44, 21 Nov 2006 (EST)

Having personally witnessed over 50 dead birds strewn along the lakeshore, including loons, it was shocking and sobering. When I spoke with Ken Hyde, the biologist at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, he said there was nothing that could be done to prevent it.--Navarr16 22:50, Nov 21 2006 (EST)
