From Great Lakes Wiki
The Common Carp poses a significant threat in The Great Lakes because it destroys native habitat loss for waterfowl, amphibians, insects and plants. It invaded Lake Ontario through a Canadian government stocking program seeking a new food source. The Common Carp causes excessive turbidity in shallow lakes because they uproot water plants, and feed on the bottom constantly inhaling mud and spitting it out. The only current control measure is fishing. They are large fish growing up to 30 inches long and 40 pounds.
