A team of experts from The Field Museum conducted a biological inventory of this remote region, producing powerful documentation that resulted in the Peruvian government's creation of this 5,212-square-mile national park. Newly protected areas like this are now safe from biodiversity loss and deforestation. Amy Lowry portrays the need to stop deforestation with an oil painting of lush broad, leafy trees. In between are large leaves falling gently to the earth, symbolizing the loss of our forests. Hidden within the painting is a vast landscape of living species that are currently endangered by global warming. Globe Sponsor: Marshall Field V |
